Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern and Uva provinces and in Galle, Matara and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night. A few showers may occur in Western and Northwestern coastal areas and in Jaffna district during the morning too.
Winds will be south-westerly over sea area around the island and speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (40-45) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be fairly rough at times.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The low-level atmospheric disturbance located to the east of Sri Lanka continues to influence the island’s weather. Accordingly, showery condition is expected to enhance over the Northern,
Eastern, and Uva Provinces during the coming days from January 5th
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya district.
A few showers will occur in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Strong winds up to 50 kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota, Gampaha, Colombo and Monaragala districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance to the East of Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery condition is expected to continue in the Eastern, Northern, and Uva provinces during the coming
days,
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee,
Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showery condition is expected to enhance in the Eastern, Northern and Uva provinces during the coming days, due to the development of a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the East of Sri Lanka.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, Northern, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Central and Uva provinces and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas. A few showers may occur in the coastal areas of the North-western and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
