Multilac and Macktiles Group gives lead for salary increase of Rs 5,000 to private sector employees

Macksons, manufacturers of Multilac, Macktiles and a building materials conglomerate announced yesterday (04) that a minimum of LKR 5,000 upwards per head salary increase for the entire workforce across the group in keeping with the request by the Minister of Finance.

On Monday (3) evening Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa announced that the Cabinet of Ministers had decided to grant a special allowance of Rs. 5,000 per month to all government employees, starting from January 2022. He stated that government pensioners would also receive this special monthly allowance of Rs. 5,000 while Samurdhi beneficiaries would be provided an additional Rs. 1,000 per month from January 2022.

Shimmer Milfer, CEO of the group said: “Despite difficult times it is the responsibility of every employer to prioritise the needs of our employees.”

Thereby the Macksons Holdings’ entire group salary increases with effect from January 2022 are as follows: below 35k: 15%, below 50k: 10%, below 100k: 6% and above 150k: 4%
