Drug dealer assaulted, wife raped for failure to settle dues

Police are investigating the assault of a drug dealer and the rape of his wife in Colombo.Police said that a drug dealer in Keragala had obtained heroin worth Rs 300,000 from a distributor from the Bloemendhal Road area in Colombo, sometime back, and failed to settle the dues. The distributor invited the Keragala dealer to a party on Thursday (27), and the latter came with his wife. When they arrived in Colombo, the distributor gang abducted them and kept them in two separate rooms. The dealer was assaulted and his wife raped by the distributor’s gang.
The distributor then telephoned the mother of the dealer and asked her to pay Rs 300,000 immediately if the victims were to be released. The mother went to the Keragala police and lodged a complaint. The Blomendhal police raided the house of the distributor and found the victims, who were rushed the National Hospital, Cololombo. Four suspects including two women were taken into custody.Further investigations are being conducted by Bloemendhal Police OIC Tissa Maldeniya and Crime Branch OIC Sub Inspector Jayasekera, under the supervision of ASP Prabhath Dayananda and SSP P. Amebepitiya, on the instructions of Western Province Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon.
