BMICH honours late Bandaranaikes
The BMICH, Sri Lanka’s most recognisable and iconic landmark, recently organised a religious event followed by a blood donation campaign in commemoration and honor of late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and of former Cabinet Minister and Speaker of Parliament Anura Bandaranaike and to invoke blessings for protection of the BMICH, its employees, their families and country from Covid-19.
With wellwishers and BMICH staff signing up, the scope of the blood donation campaign was unprecedented. The campaign will have a very real and direct impact on a large number of people who are in need, said Sunil Dissanayake, CEO of the BMICH.
Chanting of Rathana Suthraya followed by an alms giving for Buddhist monks was also held as part of the ceremonies.
BMICH is Sri Lanka’s largest and Asia’s very first purpose-built convention centre with ultra-modern facilities, constructed as an outright gift by the People’s Republic of China just in time for the 1976 Non-Aligned summit in Colombo. Recently redesigned, renovated and refurbished, BMICH is South Asia’s Premier Integrated MICE Complex with all the facilities required to host any type of convention, seminar, exhibition, conference or wedding including multi-day international conventions and conferences.
