World Bank supports COVID-19 eradication programme

Commending Sri Lanka’s efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, World Bank’s South Asia Regional Director, Faris Haddad Servos said that the Bank would extend all necessary assistance to that end.

He made this statement during a discussion with the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the Ministry of Health yesterday (27).

Chiyo Kanda, Resident Manager, World Bank in Sri Lanka said that the measures taken by the Sri Lankan health sector to control the Covid-19 virus were successful compared to other countries.

Meanwhile Wanniarachchi said that she appreciated the support extended by the World Bank in support of the primary health care program in Sri Lanka.

Health Ministry Secretary Major General (Retd.) Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Senior Specialist in Public Health Services, World Bank Project Deepika Atygalle and a number of Ministry officials were also present on the occasion.
