Wanamandawa Ayurvedic Manufactory wins Best Enterprise Award
Wanamandawa Native Ayurvedic Drugs Manufactory was honoured with the Best Enterprise Award (Industry/Manufacturing Sector – Micro Scale) at the Wayamba Wijayabhimani Awards 2024, organized by the Industrial Services Bureau of the North Western Province.
Founded in 1988 by Dr. P. G. Anura Kumara Somaratne, the manufactory continues a legacy dating back to 1960, when his father, Waidya Shiromani Dr. P. J. Somaratne, established the Centre for the Treatment of Catarrh Diseases in Giriulla. Combining traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern techniques, the company produces high-quality medicines while preserving ancient prescriptions.
To combat raw material shortages, the company initiated Herbal Plantation Projects in Horagolla and Habarana in 2005. The manufactory, under Managing Director Dr. Somarathne Mallawarachchi, offers a range of Ayurvedic medicines, including Live Healthy Tablet, Moringa Tablet, Slim Capsule, and Diabetic Tablet, catering to diverse health needs.
A subsidiary, Wanamandawa Somarathne Weda Medura, provides both traditional and modern Ayurvedic treatments. For over six decades, the Wanamandawa Group has contributed to health and wellness locally and internationally, earning multiple accolades for its dedication to Ayurvedic excellence, said a release.
