Sadly, Marx saw humans,
In terms of only social classes,
And didn’t seem to see them,
In all their individual dignity,
But not so Vincent van Gogh,
The timeless painter,
Of the nineteenth century,
Who captured on bleeding canvas,
The universal anxieties and pain,
That lay bare the human condition.
