Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Thera to represent Buddhists at King Charles III’s coronation

Chief Sanga Nayake of Great Britain, Head of London Buddhist Vihara, Most Venerable, Bogoda Seelawimala Thera has been officially invited to represent Buddhists at King Charles III’s Coronation to be held at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
First Coronation to take place in over 70 years after the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on Sept 8, 2022, it is said that only about 2,000 guests were invited compared to over 8000 people who attended Queen Elizabeth’s coronation on June 2, 1953.
Both Charles and Camilla will be crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby on May 6. making the former Prince of Wales the 40th monarch to be crowned at the Abbey.
Breaking the tradition, members of other Royal families from foreign countries have been invited together with heads of state. It is understood that President Ranil Wickremesinghe will also attend the ceremony.
