UNP General Secretary and former minister Palitha Range Bandara said on Friday that the party has decided to hold talks with a number of trade unions, professional associations and several mass organizations in addition to political parties, on how to find solutions for the current crises in the country.

He said the decision had been made after a discussion held recently at the Sirikotha party headquarters between the UNP leaders including Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene and a group including former Provincial Governors Maithri Gunaratne PC, Keerthi Tennakoon and Azath Salley, Attorneys-at-Law Shiral Lakthilaka and Gunaratne Wanninayake.

Party Leader former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had advised to hold discussions with trade unions and other organizations, Range Bandara said.

The talks are to begin on the instructions of party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to mobilize all forces against the government.

At the same time, discussions with other political parties would continue, Range Bandara added.
