Train ticket scam: Fourth suspect produced granted bail

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thajuja Lakmali on Monday (27) ordered the release of a tourist guide on Rs. 500,000 bail in connection with the fraudulent sale of two train tickets for Rs. 27,000 each to two foreigners through the online seat reservation system jointly operated by the Sri Lanka Railways Department and Sri Lanka Telecom.
The suspect, Madhuka Ashan, a resident of the Kadugannawa area, was released on bail. He was arrested by the Kandy District Crime Division and handed over to the CID before being produced in court. The CID investigation officers informed the court that three other suspects had already been arrested and remanded in connection with the incident.
Investigators informed the court that Ashan was the fourth suspect arrested in the case. They further said the Railways Department, in collaboration with the Mobitel, had implemented an online ticket sales system. An investigation had been launched into the illegal resale of these train tickets at higher prices to other individuals, they added.
Attorney-at-Law Nalaka Jayasinghe appeared for the suspect.

It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.
Effect of the heat index on human body is mentioned in the above table and it is prepared on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.
ACTION REQUIRED
Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.

The visiting ships were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in
compliance with naval traditions.
