The Isle on a High
By Lynn Ockersz
At the Lotus Tower’s highest point,
Where the pain of living eases for a while,
And delirium takes over minds and hearts,
Sightseers look down and find nothing wrong,
With gold chain-grabbing turning a way of life,
Poor women calling at mushrooming spas,
And elders hitting the streets in despair;
All happening amid a rash of plush malls,
And palatial houses seeing steady demand,
Making up quite a skewed state-of-affairs,
Which serve to remind the few of clear mind,
That Lotus Towers and other lulling ploys,
Are aimed at silencing the revolting mind.
