The Cobbler’s Independence
By Lynn Ockersz
True, your roadside cobbler,
Is no history-maker, folks,
As he sits in splendid isolation,
Earning a farthing for his pains,
But he has a joyous message,
For the rat-race gentry,
And those grasping Sires,
Who crave the passing thrills,
Of armed pomp and pageantry,
For, this your cobbler conveys:
‘Seek comfort in honest labour,
And find therein true freedom.’
