Talks between SLFP top brass and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday had been successful, General Secretary of the SLFP and State Minister of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Products Dayasiri Jayasekera told The Island.

The meeting was held in response to a letter to the President from the SLFP complaining of ill-treatment it received from some members of the government.

The meeting was attended by former President and SLFP leader Maithripala Sirisena,

SLFP Senior Vice Presidents, Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera and National Organiser Duminda Dissanayake and Treasurer Lasantha Alagiyawanna.

Minister Jayasekera said that there had been complaints from SLFP organisers and Pradeshiya Sabha members numbering 1,064 that they had been sidelined in the government’s development projects and several other issues.

The president had pledged to look into the issues highlighted by the SLFP delegation, the minister said.
