Suspect nabbed with pocket pistol
A 43-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (25) in possession of a foreign-manufactured automatic firearm, along with its magazine and five live rounds of ammunition. The arrest was made by officers from the Moragahahena Police during a raid conducted at Magammana, following a tip-off.
Police said that the firearm was Walther Model 9 gun known as Walther Pocket Pistol.
The suspect, a resident of Magammana, Homagama, was taken into custody and handed over to the Kahatuduwa Police for further investigation, authorities confirmed.
Both the Moragahahena and Kahatuduwa Police are conducting joint inquiries to determine the previous owners of the firearm and any potential links to criminal activities.
