SUSL set to host 2nd Intl Social Sciences and Languages confab in December

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages at Sabaragamuwa University is preparing to host its second International Conference on Social Sciences and Languages (ICSSL) on December 18th and 19th, 2024.

According to Dilusha Randi, a Lecturer from the English Language Teaching Unit at the university, the conference will feature a wide range of presentations highlighting multidisciplinary research in social sciences and languages. The event will also include two research workshops, guest lectures, and keynote addresses from distinguished national and international scholars.

Under the theme “Enabling Future through Resilience, Social Stability, and Ecological Sustenance,” ICSSL 2024 aims to create a vibrant intellectual forum for researchers and academics from both local and global contexts. The conference seeks to facilitate the exchange of research findings, strengthen networks among emerging and established researchers, and encourage multidisciplinary dialogue that can contribute to shaping policies at regional and national levels.

The conference will cover a wide range of tracks within social sciences and languages, encompassing Economics and Management for Development, Statistics and Information Technology, Geography and Environmental Management, Society, Politics and Media Studies, Language, Linguistics, Literature, Culture, as well as English Language Teaching and Innovative Education Practices.

Distinguished guests slated to participate include Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Eric Walsh, as Chief Guest, and Samadanie Kiriwandeniya, Chairperson of Sanasa Development Bank, who will deliver the keynote address. Shaan Weerasekara, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd., will also deliver a special speech at the conference. Furthermore, scholars from various local and international educational and research institutions will contribute as plenary speakers across the conference tracks.
