Surprise! Surprise!
We had quite a few local artistes, now based abroad, in our midst, the past few weeks.
Sondra Wise Kumaraperu surprised us all, when she turned up, in Colombo, last month…from the States.
She spent 17 days sightseeing – visiting Galle, Yala, Nuwara Eliya, and did a safari trip, as well.
“My trip was after four years,” she said, adding “I’ve been to Sri Lanka about four times, since I made America my home, 27 years ago…in 1996.
In Sri Lanka, Sondra was a recognized singer, performing with several band, and trios, including Manilal and Upekkha, Extasy, Summer Set, Dilup Gabadamudalige, Chandimal and the Second Connection, and Janapriya Weeraratne
In 1988, she was crowned Miss Working Girl.
Sondra runs her own Montessori schools, and a hair salon, in California, and does guest spots, as a singer…occasionally.
