Sri Lanka has regained political stability – CBSL Governor
Sri Lanka has regained political stability after a prolonged period of uncertainty, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, stated on Thursday evening (28) at the annual general meeting of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL).
“We experienced a loss of both political and economic stability over the past several years. However, we are now in a far more stable position on both fronts. Most importantly, we have achieved political stability. With the new President and government in place, we can look forward to an extended period of political stability. This is a crucial factor for any long-term sustainable development. Achieving this is a significant milestone,” Dr. Weerasinghe said.
Minister of Tourism Vijitha Herath emphasised that the government recognised tourism as a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.
“This is not merely a short-term solution to our financial challenges. We also see it as a driver of long-term, sustainable growth. We are fully committed to establishing Sri Lanka as a premier sustainable tourism destination,” Minister Herath said.
