South-west monsoon has established over the island
The Department of Meteorology reported that the South-west monsoon has established over the island. The southwest monsoon generally begins in end May or early June and fade away by the end of September.

The Northeast monsoon condition is gradually establishing over the island.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-central provinces and in Kurunegala district during the early hours of the morning.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale district. Showers or thundershowers will occur in the other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
