SLTA announces series of Wheelchair Tennis Tournaments
The Sri Lanka Tennis Association announced an exciting event lineup, hosting three back-to-back Uniqlo International Wheelchair Tennis Tournaments (ITF Futures Series) alongside a World Cup Qualification for the Asia Region. This series is hosted in Sri Lanka for the 17th consecutive year. Special significance is the Negombo and Colombo Open Tournaments taking place at the Negombo Tennis Club for the 13th year in a row. The 2025 BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualifier Wheelchair Tournament will also be held in Sri Lanka from February 26 to March 02, 2025.
This prestigious event will bring together top wheelchair tennis players from across Asia, as they compete for a spot in the World Team Cup. As one of the most significant tournaments in the wheelchair tennis calendar, it serves as an important stepping stone for athletes to showcase their skills and secure qualifications for the global competition. Hosted in Sri Lanka, this event is expected to draw a diverse group of athletes, coaches, and spectators, highlighting the growing popularity of wheelchair tennis in the region and the country’s commitment to fostering inclusivity in sports.
This prestigious series of tournaments will feature top-tier players from across the globe, showcasing the growing prominence of wheelchair tennis in Sri Lanka and the broader Asian region. Tournaments are as follows:
Negombo Open – 11th – 14th February 2025 and Colombo Open – 16th to 19th February 2025 played at the Negombo Tennis Club,
SL Open – 21st to 24th February 2025, and the 2025 BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualifier Wheelchair Tournament – 26th February to 02nd March 2025 will be played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Colombo, 07.
These Futures tournaments, with a prize pool of US$ 3000, will stand out as one of the highest prize money events in Sri Lanka’s Tennis. This makes, not only a major attraction for professional players but also a significant addition to the international ITF calendar, especially for wheelchair tennis.
