Six Bangladeshis arrested for visa violations
Police on Tuesday evening (29) arrested a group of six Bangladeshi nationals from the Western Province for violating visa conditions, the Police said in a statement on Wednesday (30).
The police reported that the arrests took place at a residence in Seeduwa, an area close to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The individuals detained are aged between 18 and 43, police said.
Further investigations are underway.
On Tuesday, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath stated that the government is taking steps against foreigners who overstay their visas or engage in activities that breach visa regulations. (RK)
