Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times in Northern and North-central provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and speed will be (25-35) kmph. The wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil while the wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be very rough at times while the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
