Showers in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night

Weather forecast issued at 05.30 a.m. on 11 April 2023 by the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night.
A few Showers may occur in the Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts.
Winds will be easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya and in Galle to Hambanthota via Matara.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya and in Galle to Hambanthota via Matara will be moderate at times.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Northern and North-central provinces during the morning.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western coastal areas, the Southern province and in Monaragala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts while showers or thundershowers will occur in the other areas of the island during the afternoon or night. Heavy rainfall of above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
