Weather forecast issued at 05.30 a.m. on 27 October 2023 by the Department of Meteorology

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in all provinces except in Northern, North-Central Eastern provinces after 2PM. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle and Matara districts.

Winds will be Southeasterly or variable in direction in the sea areas around island and wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.

The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Due to the influence of the low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and North-central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Therefore, general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by heavy rain, strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Due to the low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts and fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places elsewhere.

Therefore, the general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by heavy rain, strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
