Chit-Chat

Nethmi Sathsarani, who celebrated her birthday, on Friday (October 9th), made her teledrama debut, recently, by acting out the role of a ghost! ‘Dark Shadow’ was shown on Hiru TV last Tuesday (October 13). This talented lady has also been featured in a musical video, in addition to gracing the pages of the Thursday Island (Scene Around) on a couple of occasions. And, this is how my chit-chat with Nethmi went…

1. How would you describe yourself?

Let’s say…yes, I’m very brave – sometimes I travel long distances alone – and I’m talkative. But, like most girls, I’ve got a very sensitive heart, and I get hurt easily. Even If my best friend says something, jokingly, I can get hurt!

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Most definitely, the sensitive person I am. If I could get rid of that sensitiveness, I would be much happier.

3. If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

We are one tightly-knit, happy family and there’s absolutely nothing that any changes can add to that happiness.

4. School?

Seethawaka National College, Avissawella – my hometown. I did a lot of sports, while at school, and excelled in athletics.

5. Happiest moment?

I’m never happier than when I’m with my mum and dad.

6. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

We all need happiness to live an enjoyable life. But, perfect happiness! I guess most of us look for perfect happiness in everything we do. Where I’m concerned, when I’m at home…and totally relaxed!

7. Are you religious?

I’m a Buddhist and I love the teachings of Lord Buddha. I believe that if I do something good, or special, I would get the blessings of Lord Buddha.

8. Are you superstitious?

No. We can’t live a natural, and happy life, if we are conscious of gullible things.

9. Your ideal guy?

I want someone who understands me – a person who is with me in everything I do, and has an honest heart, and who would support me in my life’s journey.

10. Which living person do you most admire?

My father. He gave me a proper education and made me a good citizen, of the society, and he is an example to me…in everything.

11. Which is your most treasured possession?

My happiness.

12. If you were marooned on a desert island, who would you like as your companion?

I would most definitely prefer a camel. And, why a camel! Well, with a camel I would be able to find my way out of the desert island….

13. Your most embarrassing moment?

Whenever I go out, without my phone! And it has happened, on quite a few occasions, where I look for it and then realise that I’ve left my phone at home!

14. Done anything daring?

Yes. I am against injustice. Whoever is the sufferer, I speak out, on their behalf.

15. Your ideal vacation?

If it’s a vacation abroad, I would say Thailand because I’ve heard so many exciting things about this country, and especially the shopping! Back home, I would say Nuwara-Eliya and Katharagama.

16. What kind of music are you into?

I’m not a fan of music that is more sound than anything else. The Pop stuff is what I like, and also Bollywood music.

17. Favourite radio station:

Neth FM. They play the kind of music that I enjoy listening to. But, to be honest, I hardly have the time for radio.

18. Favourtie TV station:

Hiru TV and Derana TV because of the teledramas. I’m a big fan of teledramas.

19. What would you like to be born as in your next life?

Maybe as a celebrity actress and model!

20. Any major plans for the future?

Yes, of course… to continue, and to be a success, in my field of study, that’s agriculture, as well as acting and modelling.
