Sahansa clinches Under 12 girls’ singles title
National Tennis Championships
Top seed Sahansa Damsiluni overcame a first set defeat to win the Under 12 girls’ singles title of the ongoing National Tennis Championship at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Monday.
The Visakha Vidyalaya player beat Jennifer Mercy of St. Joseph’s College, Grand Pass 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the final.
She beat Buwani Aashirya (4-0, 4-0), Samaira Fernando (4-0, 4-1), Nethaya Amarasekara (6-0, 6-3) and Sanuthi Liang Wong on her way to the final.
Meanwhile, the semi-finalists were found in the women’s open singles. Dinara de Silva, Rukshika Wijesooriya, Nesangi Hemakumara and Hasali Gajaba secured quarter-final victories to advance to the semi-finals.
Quarter final results:
Dinara de Silva beat Inuki Jayaweera 6-3, 6-3.
Rukshika Wijesooriya beat Akesha Silva 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Nesangi Hemakumara beat Sandithi Usgodaarachchi 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Hasali Gajaba beat Dulkini Ranasinghe 6-0, 6-1.
