Rotary recognises outstanding contributions of health sector personnel

Rotary’s Vocational Service Month was commemorated by Rotary PanColombo on 26th January 2021 at hotel Movenpick, Colombo. The meeting was virtually joined by the Rotary Club of Nuwara-Eliya and the Rotary Club of Madras Mid Town.

Vocational Service is the essence of Rotary and serves as the foundation from which Rotarians serve their communities around the world. Vocational Service is the way Rotary fosters and supports the application of the ‘Ideal of Service’ to the pursuit of all vocations.

 During January, Rotarians are encouraged to focus on this important avenue of Rotary service. Vocational Service Month is an opportunity to begin year-long vocational service activities, ranging from Rotary discussions to awards to community projects.

At this event Rotary PanColombo recognized Dr.Ruwan Wijayamuni – the Chief Medical Officer of Health of City of Colombo with a vocational service award for his valued commitment and dedicated service to the community through his vocation. Dr.Wijayamuni is the Public Health Lead of the CoVid-19 medical team of the City of Colombo.

The Rotary Club of Nuwara-Eliya recognized Mr.D.M.S.B. Delpitiya – Public Health Inspector of Nuwara-Eliya MC with the vocational service award.
