Ringing-in a New Year
By Lynn Ockersz
It’s the Hour of the Outer Man,
And the gormandizer’s delight,
The sage may solemnly ponder,
Amid frenzied big bargaining,
And revelry reaching fever pitch,
Not forgetting merry cash counters,
As a New Year is heralded in,
But wait for the morning after,
When restive brains go groggy,
Hangovers heavily weigh-in,
And empty wallets begin to pinch,
To be reminded that the Inner Man,
Like a dimmed flame at a lonely shrine,
Is crying to be fueled into life.
