Resolvers Club nurtures future leaders
The Resolvers Club of Sri Lanka held its second Annual Pinning Ceremony on March 28 at the Auditorium of Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT Sri Lanka), celebrating the value-based courageous leadership of 12 young adults from diverse fields of study.
The Resolvers Club is a movement which was initiated by a group of undergraduates from APIIT Sri Lanka to nurture future leaders who are grounded and passionate about the social-emotional, cultural and moral wellbeing of others. They possess the skills to adapt to changes in society over time.
Resolvers Club functions based on four attributes: empathy, courage & daring, curiosity & continuous learning, and value-based passion and aims to bring out hidden social challenges that need attention and awareness and suggest resolutions.
The uniqueness of the movement is that it’s an autonomous student-run proactive movement designed and run by undergraduates in an egalitarian spirit. In 2022, under the theme Humanity, our projects focused on areas such as teen dating violence, the equity for LGBTQ+ community, equal access to technology, safeguarding beauty of Sri Lanka, compassionate reach to human-beings, loving animals for spreading joy, and empowering women. The Executive Committee of the club said that the Resolvers Club provided opportunity for young adults engage in multiple projects.
The theme for the Resolver’s Movement in 2023 is Diversity. Our goal is to create a community that embraces and values differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, and socio-economic status.Resolvers will continue to be committed to creating a positive and powerful impact in the Sri Lankan community and beyond, by taking one small step at a time.
