Ranjan de Silva takes the helm at Bloomfield
Ranjan de Silva took over the presidency of the Bloomfield Cricket Club from Niral Kadawatharatchie who relinquished the position after a very successful tenure. De Silva, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK, counts more than 3 decades of experience in senior corporate management. He is a former Chairman of the Ceylon Motor Traders Association, the Imports Section of the Ceylon Chamber and the Sri Lanka-China Business Council, all affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Incidentally, he is the son-in-law of late Mr Shelley Wickremasinghe, who rendered yeomen service to Bloomfield Cricket Club as its President during three terms over a span of 25 years during which time the club achieved unprecedented success in the top tier cricket tournaments while grooming many a young cricketer for national service.
Upon being elected as President of the Club, de Silva spoke with great appreciation of the development work carried out by the outgoing Executive Committee led by immediate past President, under whose watch giant strides were taken to uplift the standards of the club.
