Ranil: SJB has abandoned UNP vision

Ranil Wickremesinghe

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday said that the SJB had lost its UNP visions and plans as it was now under the influence of SLPP dissidents.

Speaking to representatives of political parties in Kandy, the President said that soon after its breakaway from the UNP, the SJB had attempted to follow UNP policies, but the situation had changed.

“They no longer have UNP policies. They are now swayed by the SLPP. These SJB members tried to capture the UNP headquarters Sirikotha saying that they had a right as they fought for UNP policies. Today, they are controlled by the SLPP Chairman and his associates.

The President said that the political uprising in July 2022, had created changes in the order of political parties and movements and the time had come for the public to support the government’s programme and policies if they wanted to see the country proper.
