Prez issues warning to Excise Dept.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently summoned top management of the Excise Department for a discussion amidst ongoing controversy over the issuance of liquor licences unlawfully in the run up to presidential election conducted on 21 Sept.
The government informed Parliament recently that President Ranil Wickremesinghe had issued as many as 361 liquor licenses in the run-up to the last presidential election.
