Prez claims support of ‘majority of minority communities’
President Ranil Wickremesinghe declared on Monday (02) that though leaders of minority political parties supported his rival contestants, he commanded the support of the majority, within the minority communities.
UNP leader Wickremesinghe said so at a programme organised by the Professionals’ Forum at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.
Commenting on the position taken by minority political parties, President Wickremesinghe said that he was confident of public support, though some leaders backed other candidates.
The SLMC, ACMC and TNA have all declared support for SJB presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
