President tells Transport Minister to appoint a Commission to resolve issues faced by railway workers

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday instructed Minister of Transport Pavithra Wanniarachchi to appoint a commission to resolve the issues faced by railway workers.
The President gave the directive during an observation visit to the Mechanical Engineering workshop of the Sri Lanka Railway Department at Ratmalana yesterday (24).
The President said that all existing issues, including recruitment and salaries, should be solved within two months.
Earlier in the day, President Rajapaksa made a sudden inspection tour of the Ratmalana Railway Maintenance yard.
The President said that while the institutions had been neglected for a long time, there were many employees with considerable engineering and technical skills attached to the railway department. The trick was to harness the human capital, he said.
