Positive outlook for SL exports in 2025

Export Development Board (EDB) Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe on Sunday said the country’s total export earnings for 2025 would be 18.7 billion US dollars.

Wijesinghe told the media that this forecast comprises 14.54 billion dollars from merchandise exports and 4.16 billion dollars from services exports.

Wijesinghe said in the first 10 months of 2024, Sri Lanka has earned 13.5 billion dollars from total exports (merchandise and services). This is a 7.19 percent increase compared to the first 10 months of 2023.

The annual target for 2024 is 16.4 billion dollars and Sri Lanka has achieved 82 percent of that annual target in the first 10 months of 2024, he said.
