New President SLCM Dr. Rohini adanamby

Outgoing President of the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists (SLCM), Dr. Geethika Patabendige, garlands new President Dr. Rohini Wadanamby at the Annual General Meeting of the SLCM held in Colombo recently.  At the AGM the following members were elected as office bearers for 2022-2023: President Elect – Dr. Malika Karunaratne, Vice President – Dr. Sujatha Pathirage, Joint Secretaries – Dr. Chathuri Gunasekera and Dr. Naamal Jayawardena, Co-Treasurers – Dr. Sumudu Suranadee and Dr. Chintha Karunasekara, Co-Editors – Dr. Roshan Jayasuriya and Prof. Lakmini Wijesooriya, Council members – Dr. Geethika Patabendige (ex officio), Dr. Dhammika Vidanagama, Prof. Jananie Kottahachchi, Dr. Deepika Priyanthi, Dr. Madhumanee Abeywardena, Dr. Nadisha Badanasinghe, Dr. Thushari Dissanayake and Dr. Dhananja Namalie.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Buddhism, Religious, and Cultural Affairs to provide tax relief on imported dates received as donations or gift for Ramadan.

This year’s Ramadan fasting season is scheduled to begin on 19-02-2026 and end on 21-03-2026.
