Navy detects smuggled stock of Kendu leaves
The Sri Lanka Navy took into its custody a smuggled consignment of Kendu leaves weighing about 400kg (wet weight) during an operation carried out in the seas off Alankuda, Norochcholai, Kalpitiya, on 07 March.
The consignment was found adrift in the sea when it was spotted by the Navy.
Inshore Patrol Craft P 220 attached to SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command recovered eight suspicious packages adrift in the Alankuda seas.
The Navy handed over the stock of contraband to the Customs Preventive Office at Katunayake for legal action.
