MP resigns from Parliament to contest LG polls in East

Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne announced on Saturday (15) in Parliament that Mohamed Sali Naleem had resigned as an MP and submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary-General of Parliament, and therefore, a vacancy had arisen in the Tenth Parliament.

 Accordingly, the resignation letter submitted by Naleem was read to the House by Secretary-General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera.

The letter stated that Naleem was resigning from his position to contest in the upcoming Local Government Election.

Naleem was elected to the Tenth Parliament from the National List, representing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.
