Minister Ratnayake opts for voluntary quarantine

Wildlife and Forest Conservation Minister C.B. Ratnayake yesterday decided to undergo quarantine voluntarily at his residence after his close colleague State Minister Arundika Fernando tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
State Minister of Coconut Kithul Palm and Rubber Cultivation Promotion and Allied Industrial Production and Export Diversification Fernando has been directed for medical care.
Rathnayake and Fernando met at a ceremony held in Walapane on Sunday. Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Ananda Hiththetiya and a group of others were also present at the event.
The Chairman of the Agarapathana Pradeshiya Sabha also contracted Covid -19 virus and Minister CB Ratnayake was seen with him at a ceremony held at the Lindula Urban Council in Talawakele late last year.
Ratnayake underwent two PCR tests, which turned negative.
Fernando is the seventh member of the Parliament to be afflicted with COVID-19.
