The first phase of MILO Football Champs 2024 – Northern Province (Under 10 and Under 12), organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Nestlé MILO, is to be held in all five districts of the Northern Province during the next few weeks. The games are scheduled to be held accordingly:

• 24th February 2024 in Mannar district

• 02nd March 2024 in Mullaitivu district

• 09th March 2024 in Vavuniya district

• 16th March 2024 in Kilinochchi district

• 22nd March 2024 in Jaffna district

With a participation of 250 teams, inclusive of 3,750 players from all five districts, this has been recorded as the highest number of players taking part in a Provincial Football programme. After the district rounds, the top 16 teams (comprising both Girls’ and Boys’ teams) from each age category will advance to the final round. The final round will feature a total of 80 teams, including 1,200 players, which is scheduled to take place at the Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna on 23rd March 2024.

Unleashing the potential of future football stars, the MILO Football Champs programme aims to ignite the sportsmanship skills of aspiring athletes in the Northern province. Alongside the tournament, a select group of talented individuals will receive specialized training on weekends over the coming months, guided by seasoned coaches from the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association. With the support of the Ministry of Education, Northern Province Department of Education, and the sponsorship of Nestlé MILO, the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association will manage the facilitation of this programme.

Nestlé MILO, in its journey towards fostering sports at grassroot level and championing gender diversity in sports, sponsors this programme with a vision of nourishing the future generations of Sri Lanka.
