Mervyn Silva further remanded
Former Minister Mervyn Silva and two others were further remanded until 03 April after being produced before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court.
Silva was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on 05 March for illegally selling a plot of state-owned land to a private party, using forged documents.
The court has also imposed an overseas travel ban on former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera and two others, who are reportedly absconding.
The Republic of Korea Navy Ship Kang Gam Chan arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment visit this morning (22 Apr 25).
The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.
Kang Gam Chan is a 149.5m long Destroyer commanded by Captain Kuon Yong Gu, and is manned by a crew of 262.
The ship is scheduled to depart the island on 24 Apr.
The Vatican has announced the Pope’s funeral will take place on Saturday, 26 April at 10:00 local time (09:00 BST).
