Managing Director Thanzyl Thajudeen met with Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa on Thursday, to present a comprehensive trilingual report on the state of journalism in the country. The report provides valuable insights and highlights key opportunities for a more resilient media industry.
The report, reflecting concerns from media professionals in all three languages, emphasizes several priorities, including the need for financial stability in media organizations. Mark and Comm advocates for fair wages, timely payments, and sustainable revenue models to strengthen workforce morale and ensure the industry’s longevity.
Further, ethical journalism and responsible reporting remain a central theme. The organization stresses the importance of stronger regulations that uphold press freedom while ensuring ethical standards, fact-checking, and misinformation prevention. Mental health support and journalist safety are also crucial, with growing demand for training in digital and multimedia journalism, investigative reporting, and media ethics.
