Fifty four popular artistes, all members of the Moratuwa Arts Forum, have come together to record a catchy song with meaningful lyrics titled “One World, One Community”, which will be officially launched at the Sebastianite Reception Hall at Lunawa, Moratuwa on February 24 at 6.30 pm.

The song has been created on a concept mooted and promoted by veteran musician and founder member of the Moratuwa Arts Forum, Priya Peiris of Cock-A-doodle-doo fame.

“I had plenty of time on my hands being confined during the lockdown last year, and I got down to penning the song and composing the music for it at the time”, Peiris said.

“It was not an easy task to get all 54 musicians to do the recording, though it was not done simultaneously. I am grateful to them, as despite their busy schedules and concerns about the pandemic, they extended their cooperation to make my concept a success, the popular musician remarked.

It’s a song meant to uplift the spirit of the world population, to celebrate humanity and co-exist as one healthy family, he said.

This is the only such song attempted by local musicians collectively in connection with the global pandemic, Peiris added.
