Madumali clinches title of the Elite Women’s event

Nestomalt Cycling Challenge 2022

Sri Lanka Army’s Madumali Fernando won a close contest against Navy’s Anne Shenali to claim the title of the Elite Women’s 28km race of the Nestomalt Cycling Challenge 2022 held in Colombo on Sunday.

Fernando clocked 51 minutes and 29 seconds to win, while Anne Shenali, who also returned the same time settled for the second place. Air Force cyclist Sulochana Panchali clocked 51 minutes and 30 seconds to be placed third.

Akasha Sandamini (51.30) of Army and Dinesha Dilrukshi (51.30) of Air Force finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The Nestomalt Cycling Challenge 2022 concluded powering the ambitions of over 400 aspiring cyclists from around the country. Organized by the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the second consecutive year, the event was sponsored by Nestlé Nestomalt.

Elite Women’s race was one of the seven races conducted at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, amidst the cheers of enthusiastic spectators.
