Let’s double Sri Lanka’s GDP
Request to all political leaders:
Sri Lanka has been facing financial difficulties in recent times, with reports of the country being bankrupt making headlines. However, this does not mean that all is lost. There are still plenty of assets in Sri Lanka that can be sustainably exploited to increase the country’s GDP. As citizens, it is our responsibility to call upon our political leaders to take actions towards doubling Sri Lanka’s GDP and per capita income.
The immediate goal is to double Sri Lanka’s GDP to 160 billion USD. Achieving this goal may seem like an impossible task, but it is not rocket science. Here are some road paths that can help us get there:
Give real-time digital platforms to the Department of Census and Statistics. The platform is already available for LKR 20 million, and it can make a significant difference in improving the accuracy and timeliness of data collection. With accurate data, we can make informed decisions that can help boost the economy.
Refer to the roadmap by DP and the book: “12000 USD PCI by 2030,” available at Sarasavi bookshop. This book outlines a clear plan for achieving a per capita income of 12,000 USD by 2030. Following this plan can help us achieve our goal of doubling the GDP.
Lobby to stop exporting raw materials without adding value
This is a crucial step that we need to take to ensure that we are not exporting our resources without maximising their potential value. An all-party lobby group can be appointed immediately to develop a strategic plan, and help is available to make this happen.
We have over 14,000 GN divisions in Sri Lanka, and seven state officials in each division. Let’s start developing ten exporters from each of these divisions. By doing so, we can create jobs and increase exports, both of which are essential for boosting the economy.
It is important to note that initiating growth action is far more critical than engaging in power battles. Our people and children are suffering immensely, and we cannot afford to waste any more time. It is time for our political leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal – a stronger Sri Lanka.
Doubling Sri Lanka’s GDP may seem like a daunting task, but it is achievable. With the right strategy and execution, we can turn things around and make Sri Lanka a thriving and prosperous country. However, we cannot do this alone. We need our political leaders to take action, and we need them to do it now. We have no time to waste. Let’s work together towards a brighter future for Sri Lanka.
