Let’s do it – Their way
I see lots of beauty pageants cropping up in our ‘land like no other.’ No qualms about that, but, I wonder, whether those selected are the right choice! Some arenominated, with no proper contest being held, where the judges would be in a position to ascertain their suitability.
Moreover, I wonder, before the lead up to a pageant, whether the contestants have to attend a workshop/s where they are put through their paces, molded, and fine-tuned, for the final of the local event!
I’m certainly impressed the way the organisers of the Miss Sri Lanka-New York pageant plan out their strategy. And, by the way, this is not an international event, but they do it in a very professional way.The Miss Sri Lanka-New York pageant is for girls, born in the USA, to Sri Lanka parents, and based in either New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut.
This pageant highlights, and brings into the limelight, accomplishments made by our Sri Lankan beauties, living in the States of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The focus is on intelligence, leadership, independence, talent, as well as commitment to humanity.
“I believe this is what true beauty personifies and our focus is to enhance the inner and outer beauty of modern women, while they gain self-confidence, and passion, within themselves,” said the Official Pageant Coach, Morina Dass, who currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
Contestants will be physically, and mentally, groomed, and trained, she added, mentioning that the lead up to the grand finale will be filled with glamour and intellectual life.Morina holds the title of Ms. California State America 2016, and was the Runner-up Mrs. Asia USA 2011, representing Sri Lanka. In addition to these accolades, she is also a model, dancer, actress, and financial analyst, working for the Bank of America, in the States.
Says Morina: “I’m so honoured, and happy, to be the official pageant coach,” while the pageant organisers had this to say: “We’re blessed to have a phenomenal pageant coach, like Morina, as our Official Pageant Coach. The girls are already gaining so much confidence, under her guidance, after just the first workshop.”
The Miss Sri Lanka-New York grand finale will be held on 21st October, 2022, in ‘the city that never sleeps’ – New York – showcasing the talents, and beauty, of our Sri Lankan American beauties. Our beauty pageant oganisers should take a cue, from these folks, and do it THEIR way…which is a very professional way of putting together beauty contests..
