Wildlife officers captured and relocated a leopard which entered a house in the village of Ilangovapuram, Vishvamadu in Pudukuduirippu on Wednesday.

The leopard entered the house during heavy rains, prompting terrified residents to alert wildlife officials. With assistance from the villagers, the officers managed to capture and remove the animal.

In a previous incident, a leopard which entered the village of Ambalkulam, situated on the Kilinochchi-Mullaitivu border, attacked and injured four youth. The animal was killed by a group of villagers.

Six individuals involved in that earlier incident were later arrested and sentenced to prison.Authorities have warned the public to remain cautious, as ongoing heavy rains in forested areas are likely to drive wild animals into nearby villages.
