JCI Senate Sri Lanka felicitates new Chairman Prashantha Lal de Alwis

It was a double celebration for Past National President of Sri Lanka Jaycees JCI Senator Prashantha Lal de Alwis PC and diplomat, as the JCI Senate Sri Lanka paid a glowing tribute to the senior lawyer on Sunday, felicitating him for being appointed the Principal of the Sri Lanka Law College and also being unanimously elected the Chairman of the JCI Senate Sri Lanka at its AGM held in Colombo.

JCI Senator Malik Cader, past national president and outgoing Senate Chairman chaired the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Senator De Alwis told the young Jaycees to face the challenges ahead with courage and fortitude, put the country before self as a true patriot.

The leading law professional said it was important to establish strong bonds of friendship internationally, master the art of diplomacy whilst being an affective communicator and a good listner.

The newly elected Senate Chairman also stressed the importance of developing oratory skills and becoming an excellent public speaker.

De Alwis himself was adjudged the best speaker of the year of Sri Lanka Jaycees two decades ago.

The most senior Jaycee JCI Senator Ajita de Zoysa, a corporate leader and a peerless raconteur spoke with rapier wit and great humour delving into the glorious past of the Jaycees said that he has attended over 56 international conferences of the Jaycees in various parts of the world. The veteran Jaycee said that every international conference he attended was joined by Jaycee stalwarts in the calibre of the late Kingsley T. Wickramarate, Pandu Liyanage, Kenneth Hannibelsz (Past national President) and they focussed on promoting the country.

JCI Sen. De Zoysa donated Rs. 2.5 million for the revamping of the Colombo Jaycees secretariat.
