Ismarly, Akram shine as Zahira take major honours

A century by Adhil Ismarly and a five-wicket haul by Miqdhadh Akram, who was playing his debut First Xi match were the highlights as Zahira took major honours against D.S. Senanayake in the Under 19 traditional cricket encounter concluded at Maradana on Sunday.

In reply to D.S. Senanayake’s 161 runs, Zahira posted 308 for nine wickets declared as left-hander Ismarly top scored with 102 runs which included 13 fours. While Venkat Rajendran made 49, Rilwan Yoosuf scored an unbeaten 60.

D.S. Senanayake did well I the second essay to force a draw as Poorna Sulakshanatop scored with 53 runs.

It was a memorable First XI debut for left arm spinner Miqdhadh Akram who took five wickets for 36 runs in the first innings.  Akram bowled eleven overs as the visitors were bowled out for 161 runs.
