Indian guided missile destroyer leaves today
Rajput Class Destroyer, INS Ranvijay that specializes in anti-submarine warfare is scheduled to leave today (16) following a goodwill visit to Colombo. The vessel arrived at the Colombo port on April 14.
The Indian High Commission spokesperson said: “INS Ranvijay is the fifth of the Rajput Class Destroyer scheduled to visit Colombo from 14-16 April 2021 on a goodwill visit. The Anti- Submarine warfare capable Guided Missile Destroyer is equipped with the state-of-the-art indigenous Bramhos Super Sonic Missile.
The arrival of the Indian Naval Ship symbolises the message of solidarity and harmony for the people of Sri Lanka on the auspicious occasion of ‘Avurudu’, with the warm wishes for their security, safety, good health and happiness.
The Ship is commanded by Captain Narayanan Hariharan, who called on the Area Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral W.D.E.M. Sudarshana and payed his respects at the IPKF memorial on 15 April 2021.
India and Sri Lanka have traditionally shared close cooperation in defence and security. Their Navies have been actively engaged in mutually beneficial cooperation in training and capacity building. The visit of the ship is another step in developing close maritime and security cooperation between the two friendly and close neighbours.”

Cabinet approves 14 day Visa extension
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished bys the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to extend Visas of those unable to leave Sri Lanka due to the
cancellation of flights to the Middle East from 28.02.2026 for another 14 days without any payments and re-extend the extended Visas for another 14 days without payments if the flights cancellations continue.

Sunil Galagama appointed as District Secretary Badulla
Taking into consideration the resolution furnished by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Council, and Local Government, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to appoint Sunil Galagama, a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, who is currently serving as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, as the District Secretary to Badulla Administrative District with immediate effect.

The Cabinet of Ministers, taking into consideration the resolution furnished by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Council, and Local Government, have decided to appoint Anupama Mangala Wickramaarachchi, a special grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, who is serving as the Additional Commissioner General of Agrarian Development of the Department of the Agrarian Development at present, as the District Secretary , Ampara Administrative district with immediate effect.
