Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces

Showers may occur in Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam district during the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 01.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
Winds will be south-westerly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. Winds will be variable in directions in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight but temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

at 12.30 p.m. 13 December 2025 valid for the period until 11.00 p.m. 13 December 2025 for Kaluthara, Rathnapura, Galle and Matara Districts
The public are warned that thundershowers accompanied with severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the Kaluthara, Rathnapura, Galle and Matara Districts.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
ACTION REQUIRED:
The Department of Meteorology advises that people should:
Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
Avoid open areas such as paddy fields, tea plantations and open water bodies during thunderstorms.
Avoid using wired telephones and connected electric appliances during thunderstorms.
Avoid using open vehicles, such as bicycles, tractors and boats etc.
Beware of fallen trees and power lines.
For emergency assistance contact the local disaster management authorities.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the early hours of the morning.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Central and North-Western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other areas of the island after 1.00p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas.
Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee,
Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in these areas.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
